Ohio high court to get bail bonds case

The Ohio Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in a case filed by a local bail bonds company regarding bond procedures in Licking County Common Pleas Court.
…The complaint was filed in March by Woody Fox, of Woody Fox Bail Bonds LLC, against Common Pleas Court Clerk Gary Walters and judges David Branstool and Thomas Marcelain.
Fox said in the complaint that the clerkâs office, which Walters is head of, refuses to accept surety bonds when an appearance bond, or 10 percent bond, is set by a judge.
Licking County Prosecutor Ken Oswalt is representing all three defendants. Each defendant had filed a motion to be dismissed as a defendant. All three motions were denied.
Fox filed a similar complaint against Municipal Court Clerk of Courts Marcia Phelps in June 2011. That case was settled after an agreement was reached to accept sureties if a 10 percent bond was ordered.
